Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
Worker-owned, queer-normative DIY theater in West Homestead.
A 150-seat queer-normative theater in a converted auto garage in West Homestead, about five miles southeast of downtown Pittsburgh. Co-founded in 2016 by Teresa Martuccio and Christopher St. Pierre, the worker-owned cooperative moved to its current space after losing its Oakland lease during the pandemic, rebuilding through volunteer labor and a community-funded renovation. Programming runs the full spectrum of DIY performance: original short plays (the 10-Minute Play Fest has passed its 40th edition), burlesque with The Titsburgh Revue, queer open-mic comedy, original musicals, film screenings, and themed dance parties. Artists set their own ticket prices and keep the majority of proceeds through the theater’s Working Artist Program. There’s a bar on-site.
