Palm Springs, California
Cathedral City gay neighborhood bar with drag shows and charity events
Gay neighborhood bar at the Cathedral City Town Center, next to the Mary Pickford Theater. Current owners Charles Thomas and Jeff McDonald bought the bar in summer 2019 (McDonald started as a bartender and stepped in when the previous owner considered closing) and completed a major expansion in March 2023 that roughly doubled the space. The Roost Foundation has raised over $90,000 for local charities through drag shows in a 7-month stretch, plus a $10,000 scholarship for a Cathedral City High School graduate. Weekly programming includes open mic with pianist Joel Baker on Mondays, karaoke Tuesdays, and DJ dance parties. Food from neighboring restaurants (Trilussa, Capizzi's, Desert Thai) can be delivered directly to your table inside the bar.
