The Wet Spot is the outdoor pool bar and day club attached to COCKtail and the Mari Jean Hotel in the Grand Central District, opened in June 2022 as the daytime sister to David Fischer's flagship gay bar next door. The setup is a swimming pool ringed by lounge chairs and cabanas, a three-sided bar, a big stage, and poolside food and cocktail service. It came out swinging — the October 2022 grand-opening weekend brought Deborah Cox, Cazwell, and RuPaul's Drag Race alum Aiden Zhane — and took Watermark's Favorite New Local Business award in 2023. For a traveler it's the rare gay day-drinking spot built around a pool rather than a patio, and it shares a block with the hotel and nightclub if the day rolls into night.
