Part of the Gay Miami Guide — bars, events & things to do.

Miami, Florida
Seven-bar South Beach club on Washington Ave — never a cover, since 1993.
Twist has run the same formula on Washington Avenue since 1993: seven bars, three dance floors, two stories, and no cover, ever. Opened by Richard Trainor and Tomas Lopez, it's South Beach's longest-running gay club, and the layout is the whole pitch, with a Latin room, a main dance floor, a bungalow bar with go-go dancers, and an outdoor patio that each run their own scene. You can hop between completely different rooms without paying a cover or stepping outside. The calendar is nightly, with rotating drag and DJ programming, a Thursday Latin party with live percussion, and a Sunday garden party. It runs from afternoon late into the early morning, so it works as both a warm-up and the place you close out. Two blocks off the beach, it's the default anchor of a South Beach night out.
