Club Philly is a gay men's bathhouse at 1220 Chancellor Street, in the middle of the Gayborhood. Gay-owned and operated, it runs the full bathhouse layout — lockers, private rooms, a sauna, a steam room, and VIP rooms — around the clock. The address has been a men's bathhouse since the 1970s, part of roughly a century of bathhouse history on the block; the current Club Philly reopened after a 2012 fire and renovation, and it's now one of the few gay bathhouses still operating in a city that once had several. The crowd spans a wide age range of gay and bisexual men, and the space leans social as much as sexual — somewhere to use the sauna, relax, and connect without a scene. Regular themed nights give the week some rhythm. Its central location makes it an easy add-on to a night out on the 13th Street bar strip a short walk away, which is part of why it's held on as an anchor of Philadelphia's cruising scene.
