Prenzlauer Berg café by day and queer dance club on weekends
FLAX is a gay café-bar in Prenzlauer Berg, on Chodowieckistraße near Greifswalder Straße, that has been part of the neighborhood scene since the 1990s. It works as a relaxed café and bar through the week and ramps up into a weekend club, with a pool table and dartboard for the early hours and music and themed nights later on. The crowd skews young, late teens and twenties, and the room stays friendly and conversational rather than cruisy, which sets it apart from Schöneberg's gear bars across town. Karaoke nights are the busiest draw, alongside table-tennis and beer-pong evenings and a Sunday brunch. For visitors staying in the east of the city, it's the most welcoming gay anchor in a district that has few dedicated queer venues.
