Part of the Gay Berlin Guide — bars, events & things to do.

Berlin, Germany
Schöneberg gay bar since 1990, home of the weekly Quizz-O-Rama
Hafen has stood on Motzstraße in Schöneberg since November 1990, a few doors from the Nollendorfplatz corner that has been the center of gay Berlin for a century. It's a classic neighborhood scene bar, wood-lined and conversational, built around a busy events calendar rather than a dance floor. Monday's long-running "Quizz-O-Rama" pub quiz is its signature night, with Schlager parties, Sunday disco, and DJ sets filling out the week. The crowd is largely local and leans older and German-speaking, the kind of regulars-and-their-friends room that rewards a second visit. It opens daily into the early morning. For a traveler, Hafen is the place to start a Motzstraße night the way the neighborhood actually does it, before the later, louder bars on the same block fill up.
