Honolulu, Hawaii
Boutique Gold Coast hotel on Sans Souci Beach, steps from Queen's Surf.
Kaimana Beach Hotel is a 122-room boutique property on the Gold Coast — the quieter eastern end of Waikiki at the base of Diamond Head. Originally built in 1963 and operated for decades as the New Otani, it was purchased in 2018, fully renovated, and reopened with a modern-boho design by Henderson Design Group. The hotel sits directly on Sans Souci Beach, adjacent to Queen's Surf Beach — Honolulu's historically gay beach since the 1970s and the site of Hawaii's first Pride event in 1974. Hau Tree, the on-site restaurant, serves under a historic hau tree grove where Robert Louis Stevenson once wrote. The kitchen was reimagined by James Beard-nominated chef Chris Kajioka. No pool — the beach is the point. A $45 daily amenities fee covers yoga, paddleboarding, bike rentals, hula lessons, and beach chairs. Valet parking runs $55.
