Part of the Gay Puerto Vallarta Guide — bars, events & things to do.

Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco
Gay cowboy cantina with bears crowd, cheap drinks, and karaoke.
La Cueva is Puerto Vallarta's gay cowboy cantina, a bears-and-boots room in the Zona Romántica with gay, bear, Canadian, and American flags on the walls and an upstairs balcony built for people-watching over the street. There are pool tables and TVs, pours that run heavy and cheap, and a come-as-you-are feel that's a world away from the polished tourist bars — the kind of place where well-behaved dogs turn up alongside their owners. Programming gives the week its shape: karaoke on Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday nights, and a Saturday-afternoon carne asada that spills onto the sidewalk. In high season, Thursdays add gay bingo with prizes before the singing starts. And it holds the only deal of its kind in town — show up dressed as a cowboy and the first tequila shot is on the house.
