Puerto Vallarta's gay resorts sit within a few blocks of each other in the Zona Romántica and on the Amapas hillside above it. Here is what each property's own site says about who it is for, which pools are clothing-optional, what a night costs, and which ones sell day passes, from Almar's beach club to the seven-room men-only Piñata PV.

Puerto Vallarta's gay resorts are packed into a small area. Almar and Blue Chairs face the sand on Playa Los Muertos, Piñata PV and Petit Hotel Pilitas sit on the Zona Romántica streets behind it, Boana Torre Malibu is a block behind the beach per our venue listing, and Casa Cupula looks down on all of it from the Amapas hillside. This guide covers each one using the policies, pools, rates, minimum stays and day passes published on its own website as of October 2026. Rates are in US dollars unless marked as pesos, and they are the properties' own published starting rates. For the wider list, including the Marina Vallarta and Hotel Zone all-inclusives, see our Gay Friendly hotels in Puerto Vallarta guide; this one is the gay and LGBTQ+ properties only, plus one beach club with suites.

Pro Tip

Two of the busiest weeks are BeefDip Bear Week (January 24 to 31, 2027) and Vallarta Pride in late May. Boana's July 2026 price list sets a seven-night minimum from January 15 to March 19, 2027, which covers BeefDip, and five nights for Pride, May 21 to 31, 2027. Casa Cupula's four-night peak windows include January 28 to February 2, 2027, partway through BeefDip week.

Clothing-Optional or Not

Property by property, in each site's own words:

  • Piñata PV: a men-only property with rooms "connected to the private and clothing-optional pool"
  • Casa Cupula: calls its Pool Club "Puerto Vallarta's only swim-suit optional Pool Club" (Piñata PV's pool is for its own guests), and its Guest Guide describes the Pool Club as adults-only
  • Almar, Blue Chairs, Boana Torre Malibu and Petit Hotel Pilitas: none of their sites state a clothing-optional policy

Playa Los Muertos, including the Blue Chairs stretch, is a public beach. Clothing-optional applies inside these two properties only.

Zona Romántica Beachfront: Almar and Blue Chairs

Almar Resort

Almar (Amapas 380) calls itself Almar LGBT Luxury Resort and an adults-only getaway, and describes itself as the only luxury gay hotel in the Zona Romántica. It lists 138 suites across 13 room types, from the Standard Suite to the Grand Almar Hydrobath and Terrace with a full ocean view, with starting rates, as of October 2026, from $110 a night for a Standard Suite to $238 for the Grand Almar. On site are The Top Sky Bar on the 13th floor, with gay shows and DJs, the Eden Pool & Lounge Garden for Almar guests, the Red Fish restaurant, the BeatRoot energy bar, a gym, and the 888 Connection Wellness spa with hydrotherapy and sauna. Amapas Hillside: Casa Cupula

Casa Cupula

Casa Cupula (Callejón de la Igualdad 129) bills itself as a boutique gay hotel and a gay-owned anchor of the local LGBT community, opened as a small guesthouse in 2002. It says everyone is welcome, and pets are welcome too. The 19 rooms run from the Villa Queen (380 square feet) to the 1,500-square-foot Penthouse Suite with an infinity pool; several suites have private jacuzzis, whirlpools or dipping pools. The swimsuit-optional Pool Club has a DJ booth and stage, the spa has a saltwater zen pool, jacuzzi and steam room, and Cupula Bistro serves in-room, poolside or at the bistro. Rates are published in dollars by season, before 21 percent tax: the Villa Queen is $209 in the super-saver season, $259 regular and $319 peak, and the Penthouse $469, $579 and $689. Over New Year the top suites reach $809. Minimum stays are two nights in super-saver, three regular, four peak and five over New Year; a 50 percent deposit and a damage deposit apply (5,000 pesos per its terms page; its Guest Guide quotes a 15,000-peso card hold or US$750 cash, so confirm when booking), and an extra guest is $50 a night. Its Guest Guide says the Pool Club is open to the public, and locals can buy gym passes on site for 300 pesos a day (basic) or 600 pesos a day (VIP, which includes the Pool Club); VIP access is included for hotel guests. The site says the hotel is a short walk or a complimentary ride from the bars and the gay beach.

Zona Romántica Streets: Piñata PV, Pilitas and Boana

Piñata PV Hotel

Piñata PV (Venustiano Carranza 322) is the men-only one. Its fine print says it is an all-male property and that guests and visitors must be 18. Seven rooms on three levels share the private, clothing-optional pool, with a jacuzzi, a steam room, an open-air rooftop gym and an art gallery bar. Published rates start at $179 for a Poolside Queen, $189 for a Poolside King, $199 for the Loft King and $239 for the Suite. Thirty percent is charged at booking and the rest at check-in, along with a $300 room deposit. The hotel is one block from the main run of gay bars and a ten-minute walk to Los Muertos, and its monthly special events are included for guests. It books through its own site, and it also answers on WhatsApp at +52 322 305 2409.

Petit Hotel Pilitas

Petit Hotel Pilitas (Pilitas 174) describes itself as an LGBTQ adults-only petit hotel where all orientations and gender identities are welcome, two minutes on foot from the gay beach. It has a temperature-controlled pool, a jacuzzi, sun terraces and an ocean-view terrace. Rooms come in four types: a standard double with a king bed, a double suite with a living room and kitchenette, a quad suite with two double beds and two bathrooms, and a penthouse with a kitchenette and sofa bed. It does not publish rates; you get a quote through its direct booking engine. Our venue listing puts the count at 18 suites.

Boana Torre Malibu

Boana Torre Malibu (Amapas 325) is a gay condo-rental building that has served the LGBT+ community since 1996, a block behind the beach per our venue listing. The building is adults-only (no guests under 18) and says it welcomes everybody. Most units have a closed bedroom, kitchen, balcony and two bathrooms, and some have two bedrooms; the site lists 32 condos. The heated terrace pool is, by Boana's own description, the largest heated pool in old Puerto Vallarta. Its July 20, 2026 price list (a PDF on its site) runs from $64 a night in summer to $315 for a two-bedroom unit at Christmas or in peak season, for one or two guests, with an extra person at $18 a night; the site quotes taxes as both 20 and 21 percent, so check the total at booking, and holds 2,000 pesos for keys and incidentals. Minimum stays are two nights most of the year, five from November 15 to December 2, 2026, seven from December 22, 2026 to January 4, 2027, seven from January 15 to March 19, 2027, five for Easter (March 21 to 28, 2027) and five for Pride (May 21 to 31, 2027). No food or drink is provided, and cleaning comes every other day except Sundays and holidays.

Pro Tip

Compare totals, not headline rates. Casa Cupula adds 21 percent tax and Boana 20 to 21 percent; Piñata PV holds a $300 deposit at check-in, Casa Cupula a damage deposit and Boana a 2,000-peso hold. Watch the currency too: Blue Chairs' room rates, the deposits, the day passes and Mantamar's packages are in pesos.

Beach Clubs With Suites: Sapphire

Sapphire Ocean Club (Malecón 1, Los Muertos) is a beach club, restaurant and bar with a set of suites, on Los Muertos Beach in the Zona Romántica. Its site does not describe a gay or adults-only policy, and it sells day passes and suites through its own booking pages. It suits travelers who want a beach-club day rather than a resort; our Gay Friendly hotels guide covers it in its beach-club section.

I'm Robbie, the founder of Out x Out. I'm from Minneapolis, though I'm spending 2026 building this community from the road — somewhere between South America and Asia. The idea for Out x Out came from a trip to Berlin, where the gay nightlife calendar was years ahead of ours: you could see not just where to go out, but which night to go — so naturally I wanted that kind of insider info for every city in the US (and beyond... eventually). I'm more of a behind-the-scenes type, but the whole point of this is connection: I'd take one real one over a hundred surface-level ones, and I'm trying to build that for the community, city by city.
