Le Stud has been a Village fixture since 1996, a gay men's bar built around the bear and leather communities at the corner of Sainte-Catherine and Papineau. The multi-level space runs two bars with topless bartenders, a dance floor, pool tables, and a mechanical bull, plus two street-corner patios that anchor that end of the strip. The atmosphere leans masculine and cruise-friendly without being a strict fetish bar, and it stays open to all comers, including an easygoing daytime crowd. Programming carries the week: karaoke early on in both French and English, resident DJs spinning house on weekend nights, and a retro-themed upstairs bar that opens for the leather and bear regulars on Saturdays. There's no cover, and a small kitchen keeps people fed mid-party.
