Mantamar Beach Club is the adults-only gay beach club attached to Almar Resort, set right on Playa Los Muertos in the Zona Romántica. The footprint runs from an oceanfront infinity pool to lounge chairs and umbrellas in the sand, with tiers of seating in between — VIP cabanas poolside, elevated wood-floored gazebos, and a rooftop terrace — plus a covered palapa restaurant serving seafood, Mexican plates, burgers, and sushi. It's the daytime nerve center of gay Puerto Vallarta. The Friday, Saturday, and Sunday DJ pool parties are among the best-known in Latin America, regularly booking international names, and they're what give Mantamar its reputation well beyond the city. Almar guests get included access, and it's open to non-guests too, so it works just as well as a destination for an afternoon as it does for the people staying upstairs.
