AHF thrift store on Biscayne funding HIV care, with free testing.
Out of the Closet is an AIDS Healthcare Foundation thrift store on Biscayne Boulevard in Edgewater, just north of Wynwood and downtown Miami. It sells secondhand clothing, accessories, books, and housewares with a cause attached: 96 cents of every dollar spent funds AHF's HIV/AIDS healthcare and prevention programs in the US and abroad. The chain started in Los Angeles in 1990 and now runs around two dozen stores nationwide — this is one of only a handful in South Florida. Beyond the racks, the location offers free HIV testing on site, part of the foundation's public-health mission. It's a thrift run rather than a nightlife stop — the kind of place that doubles as a community resource, drawing bargain hunters and donation drop-offs along with anyone looking to get tested without a clinic visit. Its own parking lot off Biscayne is a small luxury for the neighborhood.
