Phil's is a cozy downtown pub on Butler Street with old-tavern charm — low lighting, high tables, glass chandeliers — and a kitchen that punches way above its weight class. The menu is creative contemporary American: scallop pad thai, lamb lollipops, adobo-rubbed ahi tuna, Faroe Island salmon with crab cake, and some of the best Great Lakes perch around (lightly dusted in dill flour). They source Michigan craft beef from Moraine Park Farms in Zeeland and offer gluten-free and vegan-friendly options across the menu. Sweet touch: every meal ends with a handful of animal crackers. No reservations, no call-ahead seating, and there's almost always a wait — but everyone in town will tell you it's worth it. Open daily for dinner, with lunch on weekends.
