Speakeasy leather and bear bar in Schöneberg, here since the 1970s
Pussycat is a leather and bear bar in Schöneberg's gay quarter, on a quiet side street off Motzstraße near Nollendorfplatz. It has been here since the 1970s. Entry is speakeasy-style — ring the doorbell, get checked through the peephole. Inside: two small bar areas, a tiny dance floor, and retro decor that reviewers compare to pre-gentrification New York gay bars. The crowd skews toward bears, leathermen, and mature gay men, though visitors consistently describe the atmosphere as friendly despite the tough exterior. Pussycat is the home bar of the Berlin Cigar Men, who hold a monthly event with bootblacking and traditional head shaving. Smoking is fully permitted indoors. Open daily from 6 PM to 6 AM.
