Rain on 4th is the more polished room on Austin's Fourth Street strip, open since 2004 right next door to Oilcan Harry's in the Warehouse District. The space splits into three: a cocktail lounge, a lit dance floor under warehouse-height ceilings, and an outdoor patio with its own bar. It reads a notch more upscale than the average gay bar without losing the neighborhood feel, and ownership went majority queer-identified in 2015. There's programming seven nights a week, from weekend drag shows and Sunday Funday to drag karaoke, theme nights, and guest DJ sets. The crowd is mixed and mainstream-friendly, pulling from across the Fourth Street gayborhood. Pair it with Oilcan's a few steps away for the classic one-two of gay Austin's core block.
