Part of the Gay Berlin Guide — bars, events & things to do.

Berlin, Germany
Kreuzberg café-bar and event space bridging queer Berlin and the neighborhood's Turkish community since 2010.
Südblock opened in 2010 at Kottbusser Tor with a founding motto that translates to 'party properly with heart and substance — a plea for Kreuzberg.' It's a café-bar and event space that deliberately bridges two communities: Kreuzberg's large Turkish neighborhood and Berlin's queer scene. Named recurring events like Arabesque (queer Arabic dance night) and Salon Salaam (a beauty and wellness collective) reflect that mission in practice, not just branding. By day it's a neighborhood café with breakfast, homemade soups, and a Sunday brunch buffet. Evenings bring DJs, karaoke, readings, and concerts. The summer beer garden under the elevated U-Bahn tracks is one of Berlin's most distinctive outdoor drinking spots.
