Part of the Gay London Guide — bars, events & things to do.

London, London
London's only dedicated lesbian bar, in a Soho basement since 2014.
London's only dedicated lesbian bar, open since January 2014 on Old Compton Street in the heart of Soho. Owner Gary Henshaw, who also runs Ku Bar nearby, opened She specifically to fill the gap left by Candy Bar's closure — the first lesbian bar to open on Old Compton Street. The space is a basement bar with an 80-person capacity, archways, and a back courtyard called the Lady Garden, a living wall and hanging chairs in a rare outdoor space for underground Soho. Wednesday drag karaoke with drag king hosts, Thursday hip-hop and dancehall nights, and weekend DJ sets fill the calendar. Open Tuesday through Sunday, it's a small, intentional room that holds its ground as a women-and-queer space in an area where most bars skew gay-male.
