London's only dedicated lesbian bar, in a Soho basement since 2014.
Soho's longest-running dedicated lesbian bar, open since January 2014 on Old Compton Street in the heart of Soho. Owner Gary Henshaw, who also runs Ku Bar nearby, opened She specifically to fill the gap left by Candy Bar's closure — the first lesbian bar to open on Old Compton Street. The space is a basement bar with archways and a back courtyard called the Lady Garden, a living wall and hanging chairs in a rare outdoor space for underground Soho. The calendar leans event-led and DJ-driven, with weekly nights like Ruby Tuesday, SING! karaoke, weekend DJ parties, and a Sapphic Sunday quiz. It's a small, intentional room that holds its ground as a women-and-queer space in an area where most bars skew gay-male.
