Austin, Texas
East Austin marketplace of 100+ queer-owned makers and books.
The Little Gay Shop is a queer-owned marketplace on East 12th Street, stocking work from more than 100 queer-owned businesses and artists — enamel pins, art prints, apparel, zines, and a book section heavy on rare and signed queer titles you won't find at a chain. It started as a pop-up in 2019, spent its first brick-and-mortar stretch in a shipping container in 2020, and settled into its current East Austin storefront, with the bold blue exterior and rainbow awning, in 2023. It's as much a community hub as a store. The space anchors the Little Gay Market and the Little Gay Book Club, and on weekends it regularly hosts artist pop-ups, exhibitions, and outdoor gatherings. For a traveler, it's the easiest place in town to put money straight into queer creators' hands and pick up something you can't get back home.
