Berlin, Germany
Queer Prenzlauer Berg bar with bear nights, drag kings, and karaoke
Tipsy Bear is a queer neighborhood bar in Prenzlauer Berg, a deliberate distance from Schöneberg's traditional gay village and part of eastern Berlin's spread-out queer nightlife. The name nods to bear culture, but the room plays to a much wider crowd: it bills itself as a safer space for queer people and their allies, and the calendar reflects that, with drag shows most weekends, karaoke, trivia, lesbian and FLINTA* nights, queer games tournaments, and DJ sets rotating through the week. Inside it's no-frills and conversational, more community living room than dance club, with a solid lineup of cocktails and beer and an early-evening happy hour. The crowd is local, mixed, and unpretentious. visitBerlin lists it among the city's best gay bars, which is fair: if you're staying north or east and don't feel like trekking to Nollendorfplatz, this is the anchor for a night out in Prenzlauer Berg. Open daily from the early evening.
