Trans-woman-owned gay bar on Detroit's west side Warren Avenue corridor
Adam's Apple is a trans-woman-owned neighborhood bar on Detroit's west side, in the Warrendale stretch of West Warren Avenue near GiGi's and HALO (the rebranded former Hayloft Saloon). Once known as Ken's Pub, the space got a remodel around 2015 that added an outdoor patio and gazebo. Owner Jaye Marie runs it with Michelle Franklin, and it serves as the home base for Detroit TG Invasion, a transgender social gathering held three times a year around the metro area. This is a regulars' bar, not a scene. Thursday and Friday karaoke and a Sunday open mic anchor the week, with the owners occasionally throwing a no-reason buffet for the room. Drinks run cheap, the crowd skews to people who've been coming for years, and the welcome is the whole point.
