Detroit, Michigan
Multi-space queer lounge in downtown Royal Oak since 1991
Pronto has been Royal Oak's queer heartbeat since 1991, and it still bills itself exactly that way. The bar works as a triple-threat: a main bar, a dance floor, and the connected Five15 show space, all under the same ownership since Five15 bought Pronto in 2020. It's best known for the Grits & Glitter drag brunch, hosted by Victoria Sanchez with a rotating cast of Michigan performers, and it took home Metro Times' Best Gay Bar in 2023 plus Best Bar and Best Bar Food in 2025. The weekly calendar keeps it busy: VIP karaoke on Tuesdays, GAYME Night trivia on Wednesdays, drag later in the week, and DJs on weekends. Pronto leans hard into being a welcoming, safe space for the whole community, which is a big part of why it has stayed a Metro Detroit anchor for three decades.
