Inuendo is a gay nightclub in Highland Park, just north of the old Palmer Park gay corridor, and it carves out its own lane by building the night around hip-hop and R&B rather than the usual pop. There's a high-energy dance floor, a stage for drag, and a kitchen that locals rate for its seasoned wings, seasoned fries, and corned beef egg rolls. It's open Wednesday through the weekend, with rotating DJs and the occasional shirtless party. Tucked into a residential pocket off the main drag, it reads underground on purpose, and it's a welcoming room for queer people of color in particular. If you want a Detroit queer night that sounds like hip-hop instead of house, this is the one worth the detour.
