Saugatuck, Michigan
A West Michigan institution that's been worth the drive since 1972. Set on the Crane family's 100-year-old fruit farm in the rolling hills of Fennville — just minutes from Saugatuck — this is part restaurant, part bakery, part winery, and entirely charming. The famous Michigan fruit pies are handmade from recipes passed down by Lue "Meme" Crane: cherry, blueberry, apple crisp, raspberry rhubarb, plus seasonal specials like pumpkin. Beyond pie, the restaurant serves hearty sandwiches on homemade bread, soups, salads, and a signature apple dumpling that's a whole peeled apple wrapped in flaky pastry. Pro move: order the pie flight or the soup flight. The on-site winery (added in 2012) produces small-batch hard ciders and fruit wines using the farm's own harvest. You can book wine tastings indoors or on the patio through Tock. The antique-filled dining room feels like stepping into your grandma's kitchen, in the best possible way. Fifth-generation family-run. Open Wednesday through Sunday, 9 AM–4 PM (extended Friday hours in season).
