Leather, disco and daddies at a Southwest Detroit gay cocktail bar
El Trombone is a gay cocktail bar on West Vernor Highway in Southwest Detroit, in the space that was Mutiny Tiki Bar. It comes from the Detroit Optimist Society, the hospitality group behind Mutiny, and describes itself as a "Southwest Detroit neighborhood gay cocktail bar that throws a helluva party." The bar sets its own tone ("Leather, disco, daddies" and "Shirts optional"), with a cocktail list of "serious drinks, unserious names," DJ nights and community events where respectful allies are welcome. It's open Wednesday through Sunday and runs until 2 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.
