Indianapolis, Indiana
Long-running gay bar in Indianapolis's Old Northside since 1980
Greg's is one of the Midwest's longest-running gay bars, open in the Old Northside since 1980 — it started as the one-room Wawasee Tavern, reopened that July as 'Our Place,' and was renamed in 2002 to honor longtime owner Greg Powers after his death. Four decades on, it's still a cornerstone of the Indianapolis scene. The layout gives it range: a large dance floor with a laser rig, pool tables and darts, and a generous outdoor patio that does a lot of the work in summer. Weeknights lean low-key — karaoke, showtune singalongs, league games and tournaments — while weekends turn the dance floor over to pop remixes and club tracks with drag in the mix. The crowd is genuinely mixed in age, heavy on long-time regulars with a younger weekend wave. Open year-round, it's the dependable, unpretentious anchor of the neighborhood — the kind of place that's there every night, whether it's a slow Tuesday or a packed Saturday.
