Saugatuck, Michigan
Leslie Fitzell's kiln-glass studio and gallery on Mason Street.
Step inside artist Leslie Fitzell's downtown Saugatuck gallery and you've basically crossed the threshold into Oz. This one-woman glass art studio on Mason Street is a riot of color — vibrant fused glass flowers, butterflies, dragonflies, trees, and garden sculptures fill every surface, alongside custom pet portraits, pride flags, whimsical face wall hangings, and ornaments inspired by Saugatuck itself. Leslie uses kiln-forming, casting, and lampwork techniques, all created on-site. She moved to Saugatuck with her wife and opened the shop after years of selling work to galleries up and down the Michigan coast. The punny signage out front sets the tone: "The artist is in (sane)" and "Get your glass in here!" Visitors consistently describe it as a highlight of their trip — Leslie is warm, funny, and genuinely loves chatting with everyone who walks through the door. She also takes custom commissions. A beloved part of both Saugatuck's artistic and LGBTQ+ community. Open Saturdays and Sundays; check Instagram for seasonal hours.
