Pecs is North Park's gay dive with a bear-and-cub heart, the kind of unpretentious neighborhood bar where the regulars know each other and a newcomer gets folded in fast. It draws a hairier, friendlier crowd than the Hillcrest strip a mile west, and that cross-generational, come-as-you-are energy is why locals stay loyal to it. Worth the short hop to University Avenue in North Park if you'd rather drink somewhere that feels like a clubhouse than a scene.
