Part of the Gay San Diego Guide — bars, events & things to do.

San Diego, California
Two-room gay dance club anchoring Hillcrest since 1991.
San Diego's largest and best-known gay nightclub, Rich's has anchored Hillcrest's University Avenue since 1991, on a site that cycled through earlier clubs (Mickie Finn's, Metro, Mr. Dillon's) before taking its current name. Inside are two dance floors, each with its own bar and DJ booth running a different sound, plus VIP areas and outdoor patio space to cool off between sets. It's the big-room option on the strip when a dive bar won't do, with a rotating calendar of themed dance nights, drag, and touring DJs and performers, plus a long-standing reputation as the home of the city's marquee lesbian nights. 21+, and the place the rest of Hillcrest tends to spill into on a weekend.
