Part of the Gay San Diego Guide — bars, events & things to do.

San Diego, California
Hillcrest's bar-and-grill hub for drag, brunch, and dancing.
For more than 30 years MO's has been a hub of Hillcrest's gay scene, equal parts restaurant, bar, and dance floor on University Avenue. The kitchen turns out oversized burgers and themed cocktails, and the space splits into a big covered patio and an indoor bar that clears for dancing as the night goes on. It's where locals land for a meal that turns into a night out. The programming is the real reason people keep coming back: the weekly DreamGirls Revue draws local and touring drag talent (Cher impersonator and Drag Race champion Chad Michaels among the regulars), and Sunday Funday at MO's, with a DJ spinning all day, is one of the most reliable parties in the neighborhood. Come hungry or come to dance; most people end up doing both.
