Part of the Gay San Diego Guide — bars, events & things to do.

San Diego, California
North Park neighborhood bar known for karaoke and grub.
Redwing Bar & Grill is North Park's queer-owned corner bar — repeatedly voted the neighborhood's best dive, and as much a kitchen and karaoke room as a place to drink. The crowd is genuinely mixed, gay and straight and trans all getting along, and the draw is comfort food, a relaxed front bar, and a big back patio with its own bar and grill service. Karaoke is the main event, running most nights of the week and often hosted by drag queens, with a Thursday trivia night rounding it out. It sits right on the 30th Street drinking strip, low-key and unpretentious — the kind of spot you settle into for a burger and a few songs rather than a big night out.
