Part of the Gay Montreal Guide — bars, events & things to do.

Montreal, Québec
No-frills Village neighborhood bar open daily 8am–3am.
Rocky (Taverne Chez Rocky) is a no-frills gay tavern at the eastern end of Rue Sainte-Catherine in Montreal's Gay Village — one of the strip's longest-running neighborhood spots, open from early morning until last call and the kind of place where the regulars know each other by name. It runs on word of mouth, with no website and no social media, and doesn't pretend otherwise. The crowd skews 40-and-up on weekdays and gets livelier on weekends, when a drag queen runs through old standards and Quebecois French chansons and the karaoke comes out. There's a wooden terrace, cheap drinks, and an unhurried daytime cruising vibe with TVs on in the background. It's the antidote to the Village's flashier rooms — worth a stop if you want the old, lived-in Montreal gay bar rather than the polished version.
