Part of the Gay Fort Lauderdale Guide — bars, events & things to do.

Fort Lauderdale, Florida
Country-western gay bar with line dancing, karaoke, and drag.
Scandals is Wilton Manors' country-western gay bar, tucked just off Wilton Drive on NE 6th Avenue and open since 2003. It bills itself as the only gay-and-lesbian country-western dance bar in the Wilton Manors and Fort Lauderdale area, and the draw is the dancing: Thursday's country night comes with line-dance lessons, same-sex couples lessons run regularly, and karaoke, drag, and a Sunday bear tea dance round out the week. It's an unpretentious, come-as-you-are spot known for cheap drinks and a friendly mix of locals, bears, and country fans, and no cowboy-boot experience is required; regulars are happy to walk newcomers through the steps. Bigger annual events like the Bubbas Country Fair and a gay rodeo weekend fill out the calendar. Open daily from midday, with later hours on weekends.
