Dinner theater with drag and cabaret in Amsterdam's city center
Theater Restaurant 't Sluisje pairs a three-course dinner with a live drag show, and has been doing it for more than 25 years. It's set behind the Royal Palace on Torensteeg, at the edge of the Jordaan — a small room seating around 50, where the queens work close enough to the tables that the whole night feels like one shared performance. Dinner and the show run together: you eat while drag queens sing, lip-sync and banter through the evening, with plenty of music to sing along to. It's an evening to book ahead rather than a bar to drop into, and reservations are essential, especially on weekends. Long a welcoming spot for the LGBTQ+ crowd, it draws a mixed, up-for-it audience and works best for a group, a birthday, or anyone who wants their drag served with dinner rather than at a club.
